Erklärung:
The 'abstrahiert' does not mean the images are abstract, rather that they are abstracted out of something, i.e. selected details of something. The point is that the chosen details are shown in some kind of 2-D form of image, not as maquettes or other 3-D representations.

The chances are that the images are schematised or simplified representations of details in 2-D form.

abstract

Erklärung:
I think you can ignore "bildhaft", as it's obvious from the context that they're pictures.

Zustimmung  TonyTK: Yes, your added note looks like it might do the job. // It says (among other things): "Bildlich abstrahiert wird ... bei einer Skizze mit nur wenigen Strichen oder bei einer, die bewusst Leerstellen hat."

-> Thanks, TonyTK - unfortunately your link doesn't take one to the bit of text to which you are referring. Google Books can be so frustrating.../Thanks, it is describing the process of abstracting from an image, but the architectural context here is key.

Neutraler Kommentar  philgoddard: That's precisely what abstract means - simplified, schematised, taken out of context. You've even used the word "abstracting" yourself.

-> No, Phil, I don't use it. The images are not abstract, they are abstracted, and it means something different.

Zustimmung  Lancashireman: 'Abstrahiert' is a past participle and the English needs to reflect this.

-> Thanks, Lancashireman. The key thing is the architectural context. This is not fine art. They are not abstract images.

  -> Thanks, Andrea

Neutraler Kommentar  Michael Martin, MA: The German verb abstrahieren cannot really be used in the sense of “abstracted from/out of”. I’ll be happy to be persuaded otherwise, if evidence can be found/ Any quotes/definitions?

-> Yes it can, and specifically in the contexts of art and architecture, not to mention design in the wider sense./Very basic terminology in the field. I notice you provide nothing in support of your answer./Suggest you consult e.g. Duden

abstract visual (frames)

Erklärung:
Working with parts of a building in an abstract visual way in an architectural context calls for the word "frames" (even though that's not the question). My suggestion is "abstract visual frames". See if it feels good in your context.

schematic views/images

Erklärung:
or perhaps even "vivid schematics"

"Focusing on important projects of the architecture firm, the current exhibition showcases its full range of expertise by presenting sectional schematic views/images of the building facades."

I am not sure there's a definition available in current German that implies that you can abstract something out of something else without obtaining a result that's more abstract than the source. Just by rendering a particular set of features in isolation and out of context, it becomes more abstract, no..?

The German sentence could use some work, too. It would read better like this:

"Die aktuelle Ausstellung portraitiert wichtige Projekte des Architekturbüros in ihrer gesamten Bandbreite anhand von bildhaft abstrahierter Ausschnitte der Gebäudehüllen."
