Deutsch term

seil-getrieben

Deutsch > Englisch Technik Bauwesen/Hochbau/Tiefbau
"Die Aufzüge in den Hochhäusern sind seil getrieben."

"Rope operated" springs to mind but as I know little or nothing about lifts I am hoping there might be a better term ....

Any help highly appreciated.

agree Frosty : Perhaps "cable-driven"?

neutral asptech : the lift cage is suspended and hoisted by "ropes", not "cables" (there is a slight difference)

traction (lifts)

i.e. the lifts in the high-rise buildings are traction lifts
(as opposed to e.g. hydraulic lifts)
