"Er begann mit drei oktavierten Rufen, ließ einen verminderten Septakkord folgen und jagte dann mit parallel geführten Händen schnelle, virtuose Figuren über die Manuale."

Notes transposed down an octave (?). Can anybody help? It would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

three (ascending/descending) octaves
Erklärung:
They are only octaves when it's the same note, so there's no need to for anything other than 'octave'

Zustimmung  Erik Freitag: Certainly not wrong. I'm not sure if this covers the primary meaning of "both hands in octaves" as well, though.

Neutraler Kommentar  philgoddard: As your reference says, this is rare. It gets only a couple of thousand hits, and most people won't understand it.

Widerspruch  Joel Schaefer: "Octavate" may be in dictionaries, but nobody actually uses the word. I've never encountered it in my career as a musician.

in octaves / doubled at the octave

Erklärung:
Googling the sentence leads to a novel about J.S. Bach. In this context, the description closely matches Bach's Toccata and Fugue in d-minor (BWV 565).

The Toccata starts with both hands playing in octaves.

However, "oktaviert" is slightly ambiguous here, as the three "call" motives the piece begins with descend in octaves.

Zustimmung  Kristina Cosumano (X): I don't like "octavated" at all. This would make sense to me, as a reader.

Neutraler Kommentar  Joel Schaefer: Makes sense to me, but can the asker tell us what piece this is? That would give us something concrete to test our ideas against. If it's BWV 565 as Erik suggested, the figures are "in octaves": the same note sequence in both hands, one octave apart.

Neutraler Kommentar  Erik Freitag: I don't think this is it. This would be a single note repeated in different octaves (you're leaving out the "Ruf" part). I'm positive the author is alluding to BWV 565.

-> In the DB I wrote: three calls, three octaves - that does not imply a single note, it implied that the calls are octaves of the first call.
