Error in MultiTerm Convert

When I try to convert an Excel file in MultiTerm Convert I get the following error message after specifying the location of the source file and the target file locations:

"Assertion Failed: Abort=Quit, Retry=Debug, Ignore=Continue
Opening: Ausnahmefehler des Servers (exception from HRESULT: 0X80010105) (RTC_E_SERVER-FAULT)

My system:

Win XP SP 2
Trados 2007 Suite (latest patch)
SDL MultiTerm 2007 Extract (inklusive Serv... See more

Did you close the file to be converted in Excel? Dec 9, 2008

If you don't, you'll get an error message.
If this is not the cause, please try to register MultiTerm by double clicking the following file: C:\Programme\SDL International\MultiTerm 2007\#_SelfRegister_Desktop.bat

Otherwise please check, which Java Runtimes are on your system (Start - Control Panel - Add/remove programs or in Geman Start - Systemsteuerung - Software)

If the glossary is in the simple source - target format, I always prefer to use my own Perl script.

You might consider using it, if you're not scared by a little bit of hacking

You have saved your file as a legacy XLS, not XLSX (2007)?

I've tried Jerzy's suggestions but none of them worked. I'll give this Perl script a shout though.
And yes, it was saved as .xls, 2003 version.

Or just Open Office?
"Server error" pints me in the direction of Excel.
Another question: is Excel and the file really closed or did it maybe remain als "dead" process there?
And again, which Java versions do you have there?
