My name is Jelena Petrovic, I am 33 years old, and I graduated in English language and literature from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Nis (MA in English language and literature). I have ten years of professional-level experience in translating and I work as a full-time freelance translator.


My areas of specialization include:
IT (localization and computers)
Microsoft (translating/proofreading Microsoft Office Update project), performing QA of Microsoft translation. Translation/proofreading of HP, Intel, Motorola, Nokia, Kingston texts, UI strings. I possess the necessary Microsoft glossaries, the styleguide and dictionaries as well as the access to the Microsoft localization tools. I have experience in working with Microsoft Localization Studio and Helium.
Furthermore, I translated books on hardware and software (Mastering HTML and XML, Learn C# for 24 hours, Absolute Protection of PC and Privacy) for a publishing agency.

Technical (manuals, automotive industry)
I have translated manuals for home appliances, machines, electronics, digital camera manuals, operating manuals for projectors/navigators, refrigerators, mobile phones. My end-clients include:
Philips (30,000 words), Samsung (40,000 words), Genie (100,000 words), etc.

Automotive industry: Volvo (120,000 words), Ford eTIS Online (80,000 words), Teleroute Fright Exchange (40,000 words), etc.

Medicine (patent translation, pharmacology, medicine trials, cancer research, questionnaires etc.)- over 500,000 words translated

Subtitling (movies, documentaries)
Over the past 4 years, I have been subtitling foreign movies, documentaries, TV travel shows etc for different agencies. I mostly use proprietary subtitling programs.

News
I have worked for 4 years as a journalist and translator for Reporter weekly magazine. Since 2003 I have been doing proofreading of news and reportages on a daily basis. I have also translated articles for AM website/magazine, and a Greenpeace campaign.

I use a licensed Trados Studio, TRADOS, SDLX, Transit, Across, WorldServer in order to ensure the consistency in vocabulary. My price is negotiable and depends on the type and volume of the project.
