I use MT2014 SP2 and Trados Studio 2014 SP2 on windows 8.1 64bit computer. When I try to add terms in Studio, the following error always pop up (but not every time): "Unknown Exception". When I go to details error, I notice the following: "System.NullReferenceException, mscorlib. Version=4.0.0.0. Culture=neutral. PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" Studio is then frozen. I tried this on one computer: http://producthelp.sdl.com/kb/Articles/7286.html and this: http://kb.sdl.com/?article=3421&cid=23#tab:homeTab:crumb:7:artId:3421 the problem was gone for a while, but then returned and persisted. I have heard from some users that resetting window layout fixed the problem for a long time for them, but not for good. however, they don't add terms very often, so they don't encounter the problem very often any way. however, when this happens to them, they often also encounter the "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error and have to reset. if this happens with Studio 2014 SP2, I would recommend reinstalling Windows on a clean hard drive, installing Microsoft .NET Framework and SDL Trados Studio. I am not sure but I think something from previous installations may cause the error. If somebody has the time to install windows on a new, or formatted, hard drive and then install Studio, I would be curious to hear if they continue to have the unknown exception error when adding terms. This is a very old error that has been reported since many years ago. maybe SDL will fix it in Studio 2015? ▲ Collapse | |

Due to the frequent error you can face with when adding new term, i suggest an alternative solution. Let's create another termbase (brand new) and use both the termbases when translating with the new one being the default one (the old one still help u to recognize term,). Then, add new term into the new one, I think the frequency of error will be minimal. Then, after a period of time (maybe 1 week or 2) let's ...
