Hi, I am changing computer, and I need to transfer my Trados 2007 and Studio 2009 to my new computer. I did it succesfully with Trados 2014, but it is not so simple with previus versions of Trados, Any advice? Thanks a lot! | | | Emma Goldsmith Spain Local time: 19:49 Member (2004) Spanish to English
You say you transferred Studio 2014 to a new computer without any problems, so can you be more specific regarding the problems you've got transferring 2007 and 2009? | | | Disabled button | Jan 27, 2015 |
Yes, of course. When I try to transfer 2007 and 2009, the deactivated license button is disabled, but when I did for 2014, it was active.... Also, I found the info for 2014 on SNL page, but not for other licences. I think that explains why the license button is disabled in 2009. Trados 2007 is a separate license, so to transfer it, open Workbench on your old machine, go to Help>License Manager and return your 2007 license. Now you should be able to activate the 2007 license on your new machine. It worked! My 2007 License was linked to 2009. I finally managed to reinstall everything in my new computer. Thanks a lot! | | | Walter Blaser Switzerland Local time: 19:49 French to German + ... Why do you need 2007, 2009 and 2014 on the same PC? | Jan 27, 2015 |
Hi I wonder why you want to install Trados 2007, Studio 2009 and Studio 2014 on the same PC? This is calling for trouble. Why would you need all three pieces of software? I could understand why you want to keep 2007, but not Studio 2009 and 2014 in parallel. Everything you could do with Studio 2009 can be done (even better) with 2014. Both programs are fully compatible, so there should not be any need to run several versions in parallel. Walter | | | Compatibility | Jan 27, 2015 |
Hi Walter, Thanks for your response. I recently got Studio 2014, I am not fully aware of it compatibilities... My only experience so far was last week when an agency sent me a package project in Studio 2014, but when I sent the package back, they could´n open it. That is why I want´them all... But probaly it is just my ignorance in the matter. If I translate in Studio 2014 anyone with Studio 2011/2009 could open it?
