SDL Trados error: Adding new content outside a segment is not supported

The cannot be completed and the following message is displayed:
"ERROR - Adding new content outside a segment is not supported".
Any idea how this error can be resolved? Thanks in advance.

.... between segments in the Display Filter view "All segments"?

Select this display filter view and check whether you may - possibly without wanting or noticing - have entered any content between two of your segments.

review update error Apr 19, 2016

last time it happened to, the problem was that the external reviewer had changed the file name. when I changed the file name back to the original name of the exported file, the update completed without error.

Alex Lilo's advice worked for me May 3, 2016

I just came across this problem today and doing as Alex said worked.

However, now I am stuck as how to proceed regarding returning the file. I am not that in the know about trados as I don't use it that much.

Can anyone advise?
