Automatic deletion of tags without content

Source segment:

The general collection type of this person is set to payment slip for example.

In the translation, the full stop follows directly after the translation of payment slip, without a space.
When I delete the space between the tag pair that is placed between payment slip and for example, and then confirm the segment, the empty tag pair is automatically deleted from the segment. This results in a tag error. Is there a way to allow tags with no content?

In this case the tag error is a customisable setting. It doesn't mean there will be an error when saving your translation. It just means that you haven't got the same tags in the target as in the source. Tag pairs that only change in-line formatting, for example, will simply disappear if they no longer have any content between the opening and closing tags. As far as I know, you can't make them stay if they're empty.

If you want to change the warning, go to Project Settings>Verification>Tag verifier and customise "tags deleted". I'd keep it checked, but maybe change the error level to a warning.
