Reizlose und trockene Wundverhältnisse.

I know that this has been asked before. This is the description of a wound following a crossectomy (varicose vein surgery). Is "Wound shows no signs of inflammation" ... a "serious mistake showing wrong understanding"??? I thought irritation was the first stage in inflammation and chose the latter as a sort of umbrella term.

Inflammation is the body's first response to an injury, whereas an infection would be something totally different as it refers to bacteria or fungus or some other foreign element.

Or would non-infected have been a better choice because of the "dry" afterwards, perhaps referring to pus?

I have looked at different guidelines for assessment of wounds such as this one:

and it seems to me that my translation was okay.

Would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

Kein Zeichen von Entzündung and reizlos are not completely identical in meaning. I would say that reizlos has a slightly more general meaning, i.e. there is no sign of irritation whatsoever (= from whatever cause, including inflammation). I would probably translate reizlos as unremarkable but I would not regard "no sign of inflammation" as a mistake.

Thankyou for the feedback lisaskew, I've been through Kudoz, but what I need (not only for my client but also for myself) is a reference that is more than just someone's opinion, even if that person is a doctor and working in that field. Was my "inflammation" a "serious mistake showing wrong understanding?"
