I think both "preventive care" and "well care" are used.

Thank you very much!
disagree E2efour (X) : Healthcare generally refers to the treatment of sick people, which friskvård does not.

We can but agree to disagree. Please see my reference!
disagree edwardPVS : Sorry, with respect for your wiki source, health care in Swedish is *sjukvård* not *friskvård*

neutral Eva-Marie Adams : I don't know that you need to have "health" in there.

agree edwardPVS : agree with *preventive health care* in an SLL context but in Swedish corporations, *health and wellness* and *health and wellbeing* (even *health maintenance* in a health check-up context) are more common nowadays (2018). It's a nightmare.

health promotion

One way of expressing it.
Peer comment(s):

disagree edwardPVS : I have seen this alternative used but suggest it's the equivalant of "hälsofrämjande" in Swedish (WHO: "the process of enabling people to increase control over their health and its determinants, and thereby improve their health")

Health and wellness

Whether you approve of this translation or not, *health and wellness* now the most commonly used variant of *friskvård* in Sweden (anno 2018), especially in larger corporations. Other possible options are *health and wellbeing* and as mentioned elsewhere *health maintenance*, usually accompanied by the word *program/programme* and sometimes *training*. The truth is that there is no solitary translation of the term *friskvård* (even if PROZ doesn't like me pointing it out) so just choose the one that you prefer.

Health maintenance

In fact, there are quite a few possible translations, e.g. *preventive healthcare*, which Peter suggested above, and nowadays I'm seeing an increasing usage of the grotesquely buzzy *wellness* or *health and wellness*. Nevertheless, I've always translated *friskvård* to *health maintenance* (Please see link below and over 3m Google hits). *friskvård* is commonly associated with employee benefits packages, and to my mind it corresponds with the English language concept of a *health maintenance plan*, which is a type on insurance policy that provides preventive care like vaccinations, doctor checkups, and screenings, for a prepaid fee. NB I've also seen *health promotion* used.

PS...Re. "health promotion", it's the equivalent of *hälsofrämjande* in Swedish, rather than *friskvård*
Peer comment(s):

neutral Charles Ek : This was my first choice, but now that you've gone and reminded me of the recent proliferation of the grotesquely buzzy "wellness", I am compelled to heed its siren call. Sadly, I no longer have access to an "employee assistance program" for a cure. ;-)
