I have a PDF file which is not convertible into neither RTF nor Word format, not with any tool, neither Adobe Acrobat, nor wordfast, nor internet services (pdf2txt@sun.trace.wisc.edu, they just told me it was not a pdf file, although Acrobat Reader reads it as pdf file)or conversion. Has anybody ever encountered something like this?

The problem maybe because of the security level of the pdf file. You may use a program named LEADTOOLSePrint to convert (print) it as rtf or doc file. You may download the file at http://www.leadtools.com
Hope it helps

Hello, Birgit!

Another possible reason: it can be a graphical PDF. In this case, using FineReader could be the solution.

In some cases PDF has no text inside since are purely graphical. How one can see it? Try to mangify it as far as possible. If you will see steps in image contour, then file is clearly graphical.
What can you do with graphics then?
You must have FineReader 6 (for FineReader 4 and 5 you should first convert your graphic into tiff of gif; you even can simply print it out and then recognize).

FR 6 eats PDFs very well and then provides you with either txt, or doc/rtf files!
