Hello everybody
Later this month I will be interpreting during a trade negotiation to be held between my employer (an Italian businessman) and a potential customer in Mexico. I will get all the information about the product but I do not know what I can expect as to the trade (or maybe legal) terminology. In fact it will be the first time that I will interpret in this kind of meeting (I'm a newbie) and do not know if my knowledge of basic economic terms is enough or if I have to study something more specific. I guess so, but what? Should I expect to sight-translate legal documents (for example a contract) as well? And can you please suggest reading material which may be of any help? The negotiation will be in Spanish and Italian and I don't know if Mexican Spanish is much different from European in trade terminology.
I realise that I'm asking something very trivial for experienced interpreters but when you just begin working you are not sure about anything and look forward to do the best you can to start your career with the right move!
