Definitely a scam: they will pay you by check and twice the amount you have asked will be written on it. Then he will contact you to tell you he has made a mistake and if you could please wire him half the amount back. By the time you have been to the bank to cash in the cheque, it will (not immediately, but after the bank had checked the credentials) bounce. | | | Jeremy Smith Vereinigtes Königreich Local time: 18:19 Mitglied (2003) Französisch > Englisch + ... A man who cannot communicate with his wife and children, eh? Feel free to send an insulting e-mail back to him - he's a scammer. | | |

They send you a cheque and then they rip you off. It's in fashion these days, isn't it? The other day the son of a former-president from Liberia sent me an email in which he sought advice on investing his money...
Cheers

Either they are getting a bit sloppy or they think we are really stupid because I was also cc'd on two other messages to other translators/interpreters! The emails were identical but the cities were changed ▲ Collapse | | | It is definetely a scam! | Mar 16, 2005 |
Hello PavlosX,
I have also received the same e-mail (same context and some characters). It is doubtless a scam.

I've received a good many similar ones. And anyone who even thinks of sending money back without waiting for a check to clear with good funds deserves to be scammed.

Hope none of those agencies proceeded with entanglement to the point where transfers of funds occurred.

I wrote a very angry and threatening e-mail to the "Doctor" from Ghana, whose wife speaks various languages ( German, French etc) except English, telling him not to mess with interpreters.
I think we need to reply in a strong way to similar scamsters.
They distract us, take our time and resources. | | | I got this one a few weeks ago | Mar 17, 2005 |
