Hello,

One of my clients has some data in Japanese language in Oracle and he can view it. When he exports the data from Oracle to an Excel file, he is unable to view the Japanese script in the Excel file. All are junk characters there after exporting. He did send me the Excel file and I am also not able to see the Japanese script. Everything is junk there. Is something wrong? Can we also export Oracle Japanese data/file in Word format? Is there anybody to help why there are all junk

I am not familiar with how the Oracle data export works, but here are a few ideas:
It must be that the text is exported with the wrong encoding, for example Western instead of Japanese (e.g. JIS, Shift JIS, etc).
Is there an option when he is exporting from Oracle to set the encoding of thee data?
What is the OS he is using when he is exporting the data?
Is it Windows, is it UNIX, and what version (number and language) of that?
Katalin
