Internet Search still not an option for me

I think I brought this up last summer...
When I click on Internet Search from the toolbar, if I attempt to change the language pair from French-English to English-French, my left sidebar goes blank, and the search does not take place.
When I click on Internet Search on the Ask Question page, I get a prompt to enter a term - which of course I have typed in.
I'd like to use this feature ! Help!
