Agree with the general sentiment: it's common courtesy to provide feedback Mar 3, 2006

After all, once posted, a question is considered to belong to the community, therefore it would always be better if the asker provided some feedback about what they used, even made a glossary entry (it is still possible after using the Close w/o Grade option). I find it frustrating and impolite, too, if the asker just closes the question and leaves the stage without the courtesy of an explanation to those who have given their time to provide help. However, in my experience -and in my language pairs- it is the exception rather than the rule. And I find that those who themselves are active as answerers don't do that.

Also, you are completely right, Paola.

@ Brandis: afaIk : "disagrees "without comment aren't allowed and against the rules, "neutrals" too, I think, but I'm not sure.

It is technically not possible to give a disagree or neutral without adding a comment, and the comment must be linguistic, too, that is, personal comments or writing something irrelevant just to be able to give disagree/neutral is not allowed.

Grading, answering. Mar 4, 2006

I just did a quick check today for my language pairs, and out of 50 questions, only 10 had been graded..

I like answering KudoZ (it's good fun), but it's even better if you get some feedback at the end of the day.

1. No, you can't always grade.
If you don't receive any answer for example, you can't grade. (It happened to me, because I don't usually ask easy questions). Or if none of the answers are satisfactory, you might decide not to grade. But you can close the question with a note, see below.

2. Of course, if you did a quick check of today's questions, strictly speaking NONE of them should have been graded! You suppose to wait 24 hrs before grading.

3. Right. You should ALWAYS get some feedback. No matter what, it is not so difficult to say, "Thanks for all your efforts, I found this instead..." or "decided to use this because..."
or even "the client insists, that this garbled expression is correct, and I will try to make the best of it."
