I have just notice that recent KudoZ notices (from today?) are in the HTML format. This seems to use italics and bolds in the notice. But, I don\'t think I need them. It is just a waste of resource. I know that each notice is still small (around 1K), but that is not going to be a reason to keep using it. Those italics and bolds are just subtle, and have no practical effects. I prefer the former, plain format.

...since apart from the reasons quoted by Daisuke, some mail programs still don\'t treat HTML properly. For reasons of security and simplicity, I have HTML display turned off by default, and I wouldn\'t like to have to turn it on only because of Proz.
So IF HTML mails are here to stay, please either give an option in our mail preferences which lets us choose between plain text and HTML or include both formats in the same mail (don\'t ask me how to do it, I just know that I r... actually, we need HTML notice because the KudoZ.NET tool uses Unicode and because the site will soon probably also use Unicode (to finally get rid of the encoding mess). To make sure that the terms are displayed correctly we have to use HTML because only HTML can handle Unicode properly.

Endre, your suggestion to send both HTML an non-HTML is very good. In fact, I thought that this is done already, but there might be a bug/mistake in the code.

Thanks for your swift reply to our complaints. If Unicode (and HTML mails) are needed to sort out encoding problems, that\'s perfectly fine.

according to your wishes kudoz notifications are now sent in plain text again - except if HTML is needed (e.g. if a question came from KudoZ.NET and was saved in Unicode).
If an HTML notification is sent, the alternitive non HTML message should now also be sent correctly (without tags). Please let me know, when you notice that this is not the case.

But, this time in the HTML format, those Japanese (i.e., double-byte) characters are all garbled. Part of the reason is because there is no character setting in the e-mail. In fact, the header has a \"Content-Type\" line, and it is \"multipart/alternative\". Previously, since it was not in the HTML format, I think there was no charset in the header, and the mail application could display Japanese words since it usually convert non-charset e-mail to the Japanese encoding.
Can somebody (maybe Hermann) fix this problem, as Hermann could change the format?
