I have seen sometimes that the same answer is suggested more than once in Kudoz questions.

Is this acceptable?

it happens very often and normally both answerers are unaware of each other answer, until they click on "send. One may open the answer window at time X and then unvest some time in researching, or the phone might ring or an important email resets priorities, so that some time may pass before the answer is actually sent.

Of course, there are also cases of "further developed" answers, but in my experience these aren't so wide-spread, at least not in my SCs.

I don't think that askers choose randomly in case of similar answers, but "the most helpful" (answer) and the "most helpful answer" (for the asker and his/her *context*, the latter being a very important point) gets the points.

Normally, when 100% identical answers are posted, askers choose the first coming in and I believe that this is more than fair.
