Display of Previous/Next links on KudoZ question page

There seems to be a subtle bug in the way KudoZ rifling (i.e. switching to previous/next question) is displayed on the KudoZ page:

Normally, the text displayed in the Previous/Next links is shortened to fit on one line. However, one Japanese question which is not shortened appropriately causes the "Previous" link take up so much space that either the question (Opera) or the entire KudoZ page with question, answers and all disappears (Explorer).

The problem only appears when the Japanese question is displayed in appropriate encoding (in Opera, this is "Automatic encoding", in Explorer, "Japanese automatic"). Shortening works appropriately when the link is displayed as gibberish due to wrong encoding.

Maybe there's a reason why the shortening of the link fails in combination with Japanese encoding?
