I just bought SDL Trados Studio 2009 Starter and I would like to get it known. Will I get here the appropriate Training?
And what is the difference between this training and" Translator's Workbench getting Started -SDL Trados certific. Level1 ?

Hi Gertraud,
It's an excellent idea to get some training if you've just bought Studio. The Getting Started training session will be a great help for you to get up and practising.
The other session you mention is for Workbench, which forms part of Trados 2007. So although this would be interesting, it is not the application that you have got with the Studio Starter programme.
In any case, the 2nd one you mention is a session that is geared towards passing a SDL exam certificate... See more

In any case, the 2nd one you mention is a session that is geared towards passing a SDL exam certificate (there are 3 levels) and may not be as helpful for you if you want general training.
I would go for the Getting Started training session. Of course, it's only a 3-hour session so you won't learn everything, but it will help you make a start. ▲ Collapse

Emma is right, the Workbench training is based on the 2007 product so it would be better for you to take Studio 2009 getting started. The getting started course does include manuals, sample files and access to the certification exam after you take training. You will not need to have the software open, installed or running to take the training (and in fact you should not have it open). I thoroughly enjoyed the training and found it very useful. Although not a novice Trados Studio 2009 user, I picked up some useful tips and shortcuts. The trainer (Ulrike Michiels) was very good, totally familiar with the product and was able to troubleshoot as she went along, which was very informative.

I found it very paced and helpful also Mrs Michiels gave us few very good tips on using the software. I will enroll in the next SDL Trados training session with her once I get a bit more experienced.
