Usually, from what I heard, this type of scams are typically to ask you money at some point (either a "deposit" to get the money, or send money back from a supposed overdue transfer that actually never happened or things like that).
So any idea on what is their "business model" here?
I think it's a phishing scam, their primary target is the people's information.
So, they send a "bait" email in order to seek a reply. That alone will give them a confirmation of a real person name and e-mail address... besides the metadata from the e-mail/IP location.
Then, if this person gives more data (like any names of working partners, banks used, companies, etc) it's all information they can (1) add to its database, (2) perhaps use to impersonate and scam more people, (3) sell to other scammers/hackers.

I accepted the offer and good money honestly but I requested higher rates cause I knew I am going to put my heart into the work and spent 2 weeks of days and nights and weekends working on it.
The assignment was divided into two parts, and I had completed both parts but yet submitted the first part only to see how they go with the payment. Last Tuesday 29 Oct they sent me a remittance advice claiming they've made the payment and I noticed since then the money hasn't come through.
They insisted that they've made the payment and it should be an issue with my bank and asked that I proceed with the second submission but I refused. Called the bank this morning and guess what, there was no pending credit to my account.
So I start to get into the realisation of things and I googled their name and came across this page.
I am so heart broken not only because I had made some hopeful plans and dreams on the money but also because I went through sleepless nights to get this done and just feel used and abused....
Terrible feeling honestly.

In the past I have been “almost” victim of some frauds with translations offered by scammers through whatsapp and email. These groups offer highly paid translations of old books and texts, posing as well-known publishers and translation companies. They offer immediate payment upon receipt by banktransfer. But there, they send you to a “payment agent” who asks you to deposit 10% of your payment in order to deposit you. Logically, after “paying them” you lose all contact. For this reason I am concerned about a translation job I am currently working on. I would like to know if anyone has received an offer from craftedfreelancers through TM-Town.
Don't waste your time. I translated 90 pages (2 x 45 pages chapters to be translated). Completed both parts but only submitted the first part. A fake remitance advice was sent last week and my bank confirmed today there has been no payment made.
I have reported them to Australia's SpamWatch and notified NAATI and AUSIT to consider including them on their next newsletter notification to make the translators further aware of these thugs.

They were 2 emails, the first one was through Proz.com, so kindly remove it.
The second email wasn't via Proz and has no company logo.
skillclusterportal website has an address in the UK while the contact number in the USA, CA! Even the number inside the email is different from the number on the website.
