Dear all,

I have some files with .fm extension that I have to consult for a translation. I have tried to open them with "FrameMaker 6.0" but without success.

Any ideas ?

As *.fm should definitely be Framemaker.
Possibly this is Frame, but a later version. There were 6.5 and now even 7, so ask the customer either for a 6.0 version of FM or for MIF files.

...ask your client for PDF files, then you could count them.

Open it with a hex editor. The version number of FM files are often written in the first couple of lines.

Get MIF files Feb 26, 2004

You should ask your client to save their fm files as MIF files, which is are tagged files that you can read with any FrameMaker version and MS Word.
