I have Adobe Acrobat standard, which so far has been a waste of money because I haven't used it for anything other than converting word documents to pdf. I notice that it has a digital signature feature. However, I cannot understand:

a) What this is
b) How can I use it?

Can anyone explain as simply as possible? Also, what is the benefit, for example, of using this over and above for the stamp tool to sign off on documents?

Thanks.

I am not really sure I understood the thread. Why do I have to buy a "plug-in"? Is it not possible to use the digital signature with the standard version of Adobe Acrobat alone and, if not, what exactly is the procedure? Where is the the digital signature device even found in Adobe Acrobat and how do I use a plug-in? I'm afraid it is all too vague for me. Thanks though for your answer.

Acrobat 7 Standard and above support a variety of signatures and certificate types, and Verisign is a partner. Thus, to use Verisign specifically, you don't need to download the plug-in for version 7.

As far as how do you use it -- how do you create certified docs and work with others -- there is a lot of information in the online help. Also, take a look at http://www.adobe.com/security/ and some PDFs they offer on the lower right of that page.
