Hi! I recently downloaded the trial version of ABBYY FineReader 8.0 Professional Edition.
Now the trial period is over and I want to uninstall it, but I'm having problems.
I'm using Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 2.
I went to Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and tried to uninstall it from there.
But I'm getting this error message:
Internal Error 2753. InstallTools.dll
I also get the same message whenever I right click on one of the folders on my hard drive (I'm constantly copy&pasting files from a shared network folder to my HDD, and I use the right-click method). I don't have any idea why this has to do with the ABBYY program, but well...

Probably virus or Windows problem
Sep 28, 2006
I don't think your problem is closely connected to FineReader. More probably there is a virus, which eventually has destroyed some system files. Run a virus check, see if there are viruses and try to repair the problem. Some viruses may block the antivirus system, so try another system. If no virus is detected or if this doesn't help, maybe your Windows has to be reinstalled. Maybe you can go on with your current Windows, but the situation will only become worse. Call a specialist.

BUT FIRST OF ALL: If you are not experienced with computers or if you have very important data on your hard drive, copy your files on external media (cd, dvd, zip-drive), BEFORE DOING ANYTHING (and remember that you may copy the virus with your files too). If it really a virus, you cannot predict how will it react to the virus check (some viruses may destroy files). And after all, the best you can do is call a specialist.
I hope this helps and would like to repeat once again - if you are not experienced with computers, maybe it's better to consult with someone who knows what he/she is doing.
