I'm using the above packages, just started with Dragon and so far so good, but....

...in the document I'm working on now, as soon as I start to dictate in a new segment, Dragon leaps to the start of the document and starts typing what I've dictated there.

I am religiously checking that the cursor is in the target segment box before I start speaking. Indeed, this "feature" is manifesting itself even when I've already typed something in the target segment, e.g. a company

I am religiously checking that the cursor is in the target segment box before I start speaking. Indeed, this "feature" is manifesting itself even when I've already typed something in the target segment, e.g. a company name that is quicker to type than dictate as the 1st word in the segment. Dragon will only start typing in the target segment after I've a) typed the first word by hand and b) clicked on the mouse about 4 times, as if to indicate "yes, the cursor is definitely meant to be here"

It's driving me mad. I've had a look at Dragon help for some function such as "start at top of document after a 5 second pause" or something ridiculous, but I can't see anything.....

All help much appreciated

Try PB command FirstKeyControl Sep 29, 2006

You can try also FirstKeyEscape and/or FirstKeyShift.

If it doesn't help, please send question to Wordfast group at Yahoo.

Regards,
Tadej

Thank you.... Oct 1, 2006

....for your suggestion.

The problem seems to have resolved itself, with no particular action on my part. Having watched carefully how Dragon interprets what I say (you can see it "thinking" in a little box, top left of screen), I have the feeling it may have been responding to what it thought were system/document commands, not text... Speaking a bit quicker at the start of the segment seems to fix it!

Thanks again for your help - I'll bear your PB suggestion in mind if

possible solution (seems to work for me at least) May 8, 2007

I seem (accidentally) to have found a solution to the problem in DNS and Wordfast, where the cursor jumps to the beginning of the text.
My solution is to say "cap" as if you're about to put a word in capitals. The cursor will then jump to wherever it is (wrongly) going to jump but doesn't write anything because it is waiting for you to say a word to put in capitals. You can then manually move your cursor back to the box where you want to translate and carry on. It's a bit cumbersome and i

You can also cough :-) May 9, 2007

On this subsequent thread, I suggested the solution I eventually came up with, which is not dissimilar to your idea:
