German term

Stellwerker

German to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping Signaltechnik, Systemtechnik des Schienenverkehrs
How is this job called in English?

Is it "interlocking engineer" or "interlock engineer" (job title in singular), and "interlock(ing) staff" (in plural)?

I have the following sentence:

"Wir müssen das mit den Stellwerkern klären".

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlock_(engineering)

Thank you very much, Kim. A good railway dictionary would have been of great use for job...
Peer comment(s):

neutral CMJ_Trans (X) : switchman is OK only for US - never used in UK

neutral David Moore (X) : Nor in international English//Since Veronika is based in Europe, the chances are that her work will have a European audience.

Common term in the US and Canada. What do you mean by international English?

Signal box operator

Ernst (although I find Kim's version more popular and probably more correct, I am throwing in mine for good measure)
