German to English Science Medical: Pharmaceuticals isolation of TSO oocytes
Anyone with knowledge of this field know the approriate translation of Aufnahme in this context. I am not sure if they are absorbed / collected/ placed in this solution? The eggs have been sieved and centrifuged and then...?

The subscripts in the sulfuric acid formula didn't come out.
I am tending towards "suspension" but I shall leave it until the 24 hours have elapsed.

Ah, it's a description of the overall process... ... rather than one of the steps in the process.

So the end result is the eggs find themselves in a 0.1N H2SO4 solution.

I like "suspended" here, though "Aufnahme" isn't the word I'd normally associate with it...

Isolierung und Aufreinigung von TSO durch einen aus mehreren Sieb- und Dichtezentrifugati- onsschritten bestehenden Herstellungsprozess mit anschließender Aufnahme der Eier in 0,1 N H2SO4 (siehe Anhang 3, Modul S.2.2 „Description of Manufacturing Process and Process Controls“

@pj-ffm Yes, some more context prior to and after the occurrence of "Aufnahme" would be a step in the right direction. On the whole I agree with your answer and also with your reservtions but wanted to wait if we perhaps would get more context.

Otherwise, if it's the physical action that you want to highlight, rewording and using "transfer" or "deposit" could work.

@Marga - Actually I know all about the eggs/ova /oocytes - the question is simply about the word "Aufnahme" - it is about the correct word to describe the process of getting from the centrifuge to the solution. I wasn't sure what the process is- some colleagues suggest they are put/or placed there- which sounds reasonable. But not being a scientist I thought they might be "collected" or "deposited".

@ Tecton Could you give us some more background information please. A complete sentence would be very helpful to start with.
You might also like to consider to choose "TSO eggs" or "TSO ova" instead of "TSO oocytes" (Eizelle). (TSO = Trichuris suis ova = eggs of the whipworm).

This sounds like a description of the process for isolating and storing eggs from the pig whipworm Trichuris suis.

"mit anschlielßder Aufnahme" means that after being collected (from the pig faeces) the worms are then stored in sulphuric acid to inactivate any contaminating bacteria, fungi and viruses.

D'oh! I meant the "eggs", not "worms"....

If the H2SO4 solution is part of a quick wash stage, you could use "temporarily stored in ...." or "temporary storage in ...", but as this is usually for a longer period I'd use "store" in some form.

Exactly this context! If you read the procedural description I linked to, you can see that the eggs are "stored" in H2SO4 after isolation. Whether "temporarily" or for an extended period depends on the next step...

Yes German is often convoluted with sometimes words which do not need translating, but in this scientific report it is generally pretty much to the point, the only complexities arising where the things belonging to x during the Y process produced results which did not comply with the requirements of Z in one sentence! However, I think I do want a noun after all- Thanks for your help.

agree pj-ffm : Now we've finally seen the context, I'd go with "suspended" (appropriately reworded).
