Vielen Dank!!!
"Step 9:
At the bottom of the screwthread locate the two *flat points* between the two nuts (fig. 1).
Step 10:
Engage the enclosed spanner with the *flat points* and turn it gently clockwise so that the screwthread lengthens.
Continue turning until the base of the Dance Pole is on the floor.
Step 11:
Use a spirit level to ensure the Dance Pole is perfectly upright.
Step 12:
Engage the enclosed spanner with the *flat points* on the screwthread again and turn it clockwise so that the screwthread lengthens further.
Continue turning until the measurement on the screwthread corresponds to the height of your ceiling."

Little better than a guess, as this obviously hasn't been written by someone who knows small handtools. I am assuming that the 'flat poinjts' referred to are in fact the flat surfaces, or 'cheeks' of a spanner which engage with the flats on a nut to allow you to (un)tighten it. Also just called 'flats'.

: I think these "flat points" do not refer to the tool but the screwthreads on the dance pole.

Flache Stelle

: Isn't this rather risky to translate literally - a spanner doesn't usually engage on a screw-thread - or it shouldn't, anyway...??

I understand this screw-thread is provided with a point that is flat, in order to be able to turn it with a spanner.
