Hi guys,
Could you help me out with the term "Einsicht" in this context? The text is about archiving software in the Brandenburg Central State Archive:
Das Brandenburgische Landeshauptarchiv nutzt seit 2013 scopeArchiv™ zur Bestandsverwaltung und die Einsicht fand fast ausschliesslich im Lesesaal statt.
Thanks,
Gavin

: Same as "Akteneinsicht." There's an ellipsis here: "Einsicht in die Dateien/Dokumente/das Archiv." As an alternative, you could use "access" - may make the sentence a bit shorter.

I don't think "inventory" should be in there. I believe they do the archiving somewhere else.
Gavin should've added the second sentence of the news article he's translating:
"Im Zug der Migration auf den neusten scopeArchiv 5.2 Release wurden die Datensätze aus dem Archivgut nun auch in Hinsicht auf deren Vermittlung für den Online Zugang via scopeQuery™ überarbeitet."
Actually, I think you should move the second part of the sentence. Put it after "überarbeitet" to illustrate the contrast (now be accessed/viewed online and not just in the reading room).
Ha ha, who can blame me - attention spans are so short nowadays :)
I only suggested it because ScopeArchive is a document management system. You access it to read the documents (see here: http://www.scope.ch/de/produkte/systemkonzept.html ) and to make a long story short, you stick to the first part and omit the (obvious) second one. Maybe something with view+contents as an alternative (edit: since "view the documents stored in it" is a bit long)?
However, I strongly disagree with Ellen - see my explanation above. There is no "Anbringen von kritischen Äußerungen" - what you gonna do? Complain to the facility manager that the symbols on the screen are too small?

You could just say "accessed" - it's an electronic archive.
