German term

Masseterschlinge (Urgent)

German to English Medical Medical: Dentistry Muscles in the jaw
"Durch die Formgebung kann die Masseterschlinge sicher abgehalten werden, so dass hier leicht Knochenblockentnahmen oder auch die Entfernung tief retinierter Sapientes durchgeführt werden können; Kieferwinkelfrakturen können übersichtlich dargestellt werden und erweitern das Einsatzgebiet erheblich."

From a (thankfully!) short text about a "Kieferwinkelhaken" (whatever the heck that is; I've guessed at "mandibular retractor", which I don't think is too far off the mark).

It's part of the jaw. The "Masseter" part means masseter or chewing muscle. The "Schlinge" part has me completely and utterly stumped, however. "Sling" it most definitely isn't! "Loop", maybe, but various searches for "masseter loop", "masseteric loop", "chewing muscle loop" etc. generate no hits whatsoever.

So, does anyone with a reasonable knowledge of the human anatomy know what this might be called in English? I need an answer urgently. TIA for your prompt assistance.

Medial Pterygoid - The origin of the muscle is the maxillary tuberosity, the medial surface of the lateral pterygoid plate and the pyramidal process of the palatine bone and it inserts on the medial aspect of the ramus of the mandible forming a “mandibular sling” with the masseter.  It is primarily an elevator of the mandible and alternate contraction causes the motion necessary for grinding.  It is supplied by the medial pterygoid nerve and artery.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Ah, so it is a sling after all! Not many references (I checked myself and I think you just about quoted all there were!), but convincing enough. Thanks for that - really appreciate your help. 4 points well earned."

fructures in the jaw angles

it is not distinguished here between upper or lower jaw, mandibular is the lower jaw.
Would masseter plaiting help?
Kieferwinkelhaken is somethin like a hook having a special form (angle) perhaps spoonlike.
