Frauenfrderung
The term, in fact, speaks for itself and I can think of numerous (largely cumbersome) translations. Is there a geneally accepted term for this in English?

affirmative action for women
Since I'm sitting in the country of affirmative action at the moment, I thought this might be appropriate if your target text is to be in U.S. English. This is certainly a very commonly accepted term for the advancement/promotion of women in the work environment.

Comment: "Thanks Henry - This is what I was looking for. In fact, I have used several different translations according to context. Where it is more specific, I have used Christian`s answer or "the promotion of women""

Thanks Terence. However, in the given context this definition is too narrow. |

It seems to me it is better said in English like that.

: That sounds more like Beförderung and the definite article would only make sense if the context had already referred to a specific group of women.
