Where can I find an online "datebase" with translated forms in both languages (articles, books...) which I can transfer into Across.
Also dictionaries.
This is for general translation.

Translated texts

Thats kind of a tough one because generally translation memories and the likes are not made available.
A notable exception is the legal text of the EU under

Source functions as target and vice-versa
Jul 15, 2009
Great! Thanks Uwe for this great tip!
I made a test with one of the TMs and across, it worked. But I was a bit disappointed when I noticed that across associates the various target languages (in my case, PT) to only one source language (in my test EN). The thing is that I have also DE as target language.
Question: is there a way to import in one shot three languages to crossTank so that all of them can function both as source as well as target languages? Is there a piec... See more

By now I haven't find an automated solution to this. I am doing it manually, that is:
- imported TMX lang A -> lang B into Trados
- opened TMX A -> C in Olifanti
- copied the content to a Excel file
- split the Excel file in two, one A and one C
- auto-translated in Trados the file A to B
- generated a Excel file with B
- aligned B and C Excel files in across
It worked beautifully, but the whole thing takes a looong time to acomplish.
BTW: after importing the over 600.000-segment-TM into crossTank, across became slower to start. Is this normal? The search in crossTank is also slower, but this should be normal. But in some cases the search takes more than 20 seconds, what I think it is too long. My PC is pretty fast by the way.

I am still in the process of importing the segments from DGT-TM. I already imported around 700 thousands of segments relevant to my language pair. Concordance in crossTank is working beautifully, although somehow slower than before the import. What got really slow though is the start-up of across. It takes ages, something like 3 minutes.
Is this normal? Is it possible to avoid this?
