I could, depending on the number of people, obviously, but I’ve chosen not to because of my age and the fact that I suffer from MGUS (gammopathy). | | | We need special authorization | Aug 21, 2020 |
In Argentina, it depends on the city, but most people are required special authorizations to assist elder people, visit their children (divorced parents), etc. | | | DZiW (X) Ukraine Englisch > Russisch + ... Abandoned, Mistreated, Stressed, Depersonalized, and Self-poisoned | Aug 21, 2020 |

Why, in our neighborhoods we have neither headaches nor fatigue as masked signs of CO2 poisoning.
Bless you, Orwellians)
P.S. Even now at medical school, if a student does know what ‘epidemic’ is and has the idea about ‘filterable viruses‘, yet mindlessly parrots WHO saying a mask and sanitizers would do against a virus—or that all bacteria and viruses must be destroyed, he or she will nicely kiss goodbye the good mark or diploma

Depending on the number of people. My family and me live together. Mother, father, brother, kids.
Yes, but most of my family is over the border, I have managed a quick trip to Switzerland but I really wanted to go to Scotland. I hate the heat here in summer and I am having to bear it this year. | | | Ventnai Spanien Local time: 07:20 Deutsch > Englisch + ... Friends yes, family with difficulty | Aug 21, 2020 |
If I wanted to visit my family, I would need to spend 14 days in quarantine on arrival in the UK. My parents have largely been living in isolation since March due to their age and health conditions. My brother and sister have visited them but they ate lunch in the garden while maintaining distance. | | | Anna Herbst Australien Local time: 17:20 Englisch > Schwedisch + ... I live in the greater Melbourne area where we have been in lockdown for quite some time now, and will be for at least another month. Not allowed to visit anyone, only allowed to travel 5 kilometres from home, one hour exercise outside per day allowed which can be done with one other person if distance is kept. Face mask is required outside your own property and there is a curfew from 8.00 PM to 5.00 AM. Heavy fines apply for non-adherence.

I have family on the other side of the world, but when I will be able to see them again is very unclear. At present Australians are not allowed to leave the country, and if we we were given permission to leave, being able to return could prove more or less impossible.
If like me you live on your own, life has become quite lonely. Luckily I am a bit of a lone wolf, but this is a bit much even for me as I do like to meet up with other wolves from time to time. If I hadn't had my very people oriented cat, I don't know how I would have survived. ▲ Collapse

Where I live (Argentina), I cannot have family/social meetings at this moment. We can see family only on special situations and having a special authorization to do so (requested online). Of course there are many people who just ignore this and are meeting "normally", but this is not my case (our case, my direct family). For about 2-3 months, I went out just to go to grocery/drugstores once a week. Since June, I also go out with my son to walk on a park or some not crowded place about 3 times a ... But no meetings yet.
About my broader family (parents, brothers, etc.), meeting them is totally impossible right now, since they are in another country and all commercial flights are forbidden where I live.
These are definitively weird times, but I'm trying to not go mad... And I'm working a lot

I can meet with friends here in town (keeping the required 2m distance) but I can't see my daughter in the UK, my son in the US, or my sister and other relatives in the Netherlands. But we take all the required precautions and observe the rules to avoid any problems. Still, there is some risk left while using public transportation and in stores because some people believe that Corona is a lie and that their freedom and rights are being intentionally restricted for no reason. Well, they should ask themselves how much their rights and freedom are worth when they're six feet under. | | | What I'm Reading Here Is Sad | Aug 21, 2020 |
It saddens me to read here about the extremes some of the local and country governments have felt obliged to go to in the name of saving lives. I can see why some people who are still healthy and want to enjoy life and loved ones as much as possible consider it an overreach.
That said, the seriousness of this pandemic cannot be underestimated.

That said, the seriousness of this pandemic cannot be underestimated.
In my case, as soon as the virus surfaced in the US, I decided to stay away from my mother, who turned 96 on Monday, because I have a feeling, based on our family history and her good physical condition, that she may live past 100 if she is not inadvertently exposed to it. I'm afraid that when I finally get to see her again I may be shocked by how different she looks.
Luckily, she has been able to remain in her own home and avoid a nursing home, where the risk of catching the virus is higher than just about anywhere else, because one of my sisters has been living with her for several years.

It saddens me more to see that governments did not take sufficient precautions to protect people's health and we are now voluntarily on lockdown as it is safer as we do not know who's been infected since there were mass gatherings and feast celebrations. It's also much harder now because of the heat and the humidity and everyone has got tired of the restrictions-voluntary or the little imposed ones left in place. We had started to 'live' whereas now we are back to square one and numbers are worse than during the first spate and all on account of greed and lack of foresight.
[Edited at 2020-08-21 19:20 GMT] it’s like life is on hold at the moment unfortunately and it’s going by very quickly

Until yesterday, I would have said "No," but San Diego County has just been approved to move to the next stage of opening up.
Three weeks ago we did have an HOA board meeting outdoors with everyone (about 20 people) wearing masks, seated more than 6 feet apart, and using a microphone on a long cord that was passed from person to person.

Sorry about the abbreviation: HOA stands for 'homeowner association'. We are a community of 721 homes governed by a 9-person board of directors (I'm one of them) that is required to meet once a month. Previously, we had been holding Zoom meetings, but at this particular meeting we had to use secret balloting, which couldn't be done online.

Some friends have come over to visit from the UK for a couple of weeks. They will have to self-isolate for 2 weeks when they return home.
