Other (almost always) Apr 5

I almost always reply to job enquiries that are sent directly to me even if it concerns a field I don’t cover, for a deadline I can’t meet or for a rate way below my own, giving my reasons for declining. One exception is a large agency which has somehow included me in their database. Their jobs are always offered at half my rate or less. I've asked to be removed from their database but it makes no difference. So, I ignore their emails.

P.S. I’d like to receive an answer every time I’m contacted but I do understand the challenges an agency faces when dealing with multiple languages and remote teams in different locations…

question badly put Apr 5

If they don't answer me how can I respond to them?
If I am contacted by an unknown agency I may reply if I'm not too busy, but if I don't hear back from them I certainly don't chase them up.

I voted other and I'll share: I don't understand the question.

I suggest tomorrow's light-hearted weekend poll should be "what did yesterday's question even mean?"

No, I don't Apr 5

As a general rule, i don't. I consider it very bad form if an agency contacts me, addresses me by name and does not reply when I reply to their request, whether I accept or not, even just to say that the job has been assigned. So, I've learnt not to reply when they next send me requests for jobs.
