Hi everyone!

Im new in using Tag Editor, better to say it's the first time now I have to work with an ".ini" file.
The document I have to translate is in Word and I have MS Word 2003 and my Trados version is 7.5.
The problem is that I can not insert any tags in the target text, because my options "Insert tags" or "Insert entities" are missing.

I do not know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Thank you very much in advance!

protection Feb 1, 2008

hi maria veronica,

go to tools > options > protection, uncheck "protect tags" and "protect document"

be very careful with the tags as you can delete/change them accidentally

good luck,
pavel

Problem solved, many thanks Feb 1, 2008

Hello Pavel,

Thank you very much for your prompt response.
The problem is now solved.
I forgot to mention my other problem.
When I save the translation in Word, it only saved the target, the clean document.
What can I do to generate the unclean document?

Thanks again everyone!

saving Feb 2, 2008

there are three save commands:

1. save (ctrl-S) (ttx: bilingual, i.e. "unclean")
2. save bilingual as... (ttx, bif, "unclean")
3. save target as... (doc, dot, "clean")

this is really basic stuff found in your user documentation

but if you mean an "unclean" doc then I'd use the following:

a. open your ttx in tageditor, ctrl-A (select all), ctrl-C (copy)
b. start word, ctrl-V (paste), ctrl-S (save)

This is what i did in the end Feb 2, 2008

Hello Pavel,

Thanks for your help!
I was not sure about this and just wanted to make sure there are no other ways to do it.
I am glad to see that I did it just the way it has to be done, including your last recommendation.
Thanks again ans have a nice week-end!

BR,
Veronica Constantinescu
