... do these people get their scam ideas from??? Is there some dark web forum somewhere that discusses them? The scams get recycled year in and year out, slight changes in details but otherwise the same...

... they are only send to you as a way of getting you to confirm your email address. This is done for nefarious purposes. If you do reply, then YOU may become the Roberto Torres du jour.

Perhaps he doesn't know neither the source nor the target language. After all he got your contact... that you are an excellent translator. What do contact (details) reveal about someone's ability as a translator?

They might get these ideas from a visit to the translators scammers directory where they can contact all known and registered scammers for exchange ideas.

As Tom suggested, don't bother to reply, just delete it.
