Discussion

Björn Vrooman Jul 2, 2023:
@Dhananjay Rau I didn't get why you declined Susanne's answer, but then I read your note to Brent.

Please be aware that this has been wrongly parsed. It's:
(a) Extremitäten: keine Ödeme, frei beweglich, kein Wadendruckschmerz
(b) NL: bds frei (..and so on)

"Nierenlager: beiderseits frei": https://befunddolmetscher.de/nierenlager-beidseits-frei

So NL=Nierenlager seems fine to me, as there's nothing to suggest that the preceding term ("Wadendruckschmerz") has anything to do with this part.

It's just Germans trying to keep it (too) short. So I'm hoping this Q can still be closed.

Best and enjoy your Sunday

Nierenlager = renal bed

Declined
"NL frei" steht für "Nierenlager frei".

Note from asker:
The context mentions "kein Wadendruckschmerz.." what does the costovertebral angle have to do with the calf muscle? If it did it would probably have been mentioned in a different phrase.

costovertebral angle (tenderness) (CVAT)

Declined
Agree with "Nierenlager", but would suggest a different translation.

Peer comment(s):

agree Steffen Walter : In this case, no costovertebral angle tenderness (CVAT).

Yes, absolutely. Thank you, Steffen

Thank you, Christopher
agree Brent Sørensen : Yeah. I was pretty sure that NL stood for Nierenlager. But your suggestion probably works better in this context.

Thank you, Brent
agree Lirka : The only correct translation ( with Steffen's "no" of course )

neben links

Declined
Extremities: no edema, freely movable, no calf pressure pain on the left: bds free Peripheral pulses OE and UE palpable

Had this in covid medical translations recently.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Steffen Walter : "Neben links: beidseits frei"? Way off the mark - see the other answers.
