English term or phrase: Half scan single shot FSE
A half-Fourier acquisition, fast spin echo T2-weighted sequence (vendorspecific acronyms: HASTE, Halfscan FSE, 1/2 NEX FSE, half-scan single shot FSE, AFI RO) is particularly helpful in detecting pulmonary conditions that increase proton density (consolidation and ground-glass opacity on CT) and mosaic attenuation in small-airway disease (13). A rotation phase–encoding, fast spin echo T2-weighted sequence (vendor-specific acronyms: BLADE, MultiVane, PROPELLER, RADAR, JET) is also useful in proton-rich conditions such as nodules and consolidation; its high sensitivity for hyperintense T2 pathology also makes it ideal for detection of inflammatory bronchiectasis, mucus plugging, and effusions (6, 8, 14).

Phase-conjugate symmetry methods go under a variety of trademarked names according to vendor. Siemens uses the term "Half Fourier", while Toshiba uses the abbreviation AFI ("Asymmetric Fourier Imaging"); Philips and Hitachi each call their sequences "Half scan".
