: *Assuming* my ref. is reliable, "Discounter" is in both tables ("LEH-DM" and "LEH – exkl. DM") // Our local Rossman has a small wine section, but the point is LEH and Drogeriemärkte are lumped together as a single category in certain marketing reports.

Drogeriemarkt was my first thought too, but is alcohol sold there?

DM stands for Drogeriemärkte

I have just realised that I omitted the LEH part, though I believe that was not really the problem since you worked out that it stood for "Lebensmitteleinzelhandel" ("food retail").
As far as the DM is concerned, I have little doubt that it stands for "Drogeriemärkte". If I have any hesitation at all, it is on the correct rendering of "Drogeriemärkte" in English.
Despite the name, the nearest you will find to "drugs" in a German "Drogeriemarkt" is vitamin tablets or sticky plaster.
What you will find is toiletries, cleaning products, candles, a range of health foods and a few other products. Our local Rossman even has a small wine section, but I am not sure how typical this is of a "Drogeriemarkt".
Basically, they are like Superdrug (UK), but without the aspirins or paracetamol.
Hope this helps!

And, of course, they stock things like perfume, hair dye, etc., hence "beauty"...

Once again, the nearest equivalent to a "Drogeriemarkt" that I know of in the UK is Superdrug. This chain is described online (and describes itself) as:
"Superdrug is a retail chain of health and beauty product stores based in the United Kingdom."

"Superdrug store, founded in 1964, part of AS Waston family, is the second-largest chain of health and beauty stores in UK."

However, it is possible that Superdrug may have changed since last I visited...

: I agree that it stands for Drogeriemarkt, but I don't think "health and beauty retailer" covers it. It's a drugstore, defined by Websters as "a retail store where medicines and other miscellaneous articles are sold."

The problem being that a Drogeriemarkt cannot, by law, stock medicines! Also, I believe that to US ears, "drugstore" would imply "pharmacy", rather than somewhere like Drogeriemarkt Müller, Schlecker, Rossman, DM, etc., which do not even stock aspirin...

Discussion
It's about alcoholic beverage sales - there isn't much more context as it's just a title. I wondered about Direkt something....
