Nach einigen Anlaufschwierigkeiten ist die Kostenlosmentalität im Netz nun langsam auf dem Rückzug. Paid Content wird immer mehr von den Nutzern akzeptiert. Das liegt nicht zuletzt am Erfolg der Tablet PCs. Wir geben Tipps, wie Paid Content auch für kleine Webseiten funktionieren kann.
Paid Content? Was ist das?
Mit Paid Content im Internet bezeichnet man Bezahlinhalte, also digitale Güter wie Zeitungsartikel oder Blogbeiträge im Netz, Musik oder Videos, die der Nutzer erst nach Zahlung eines Geldbetrages anschauen bzw. anhören oder downloaden kann. Auch Webseiten-Templates können dazugehören, einfach alles, was digital und ohne vorhergehenden Kundenauftrag zum Downloaden produziert wird.
Warum Paid Content anbieten?
Das Angebot an Internetseiten ist mittlerweile riesig groß. Nicht nur für die Nutzer, sondern auch für die Werber. Die Klickraten pro Webseite sinken, die Werber entscheiden die Platzierung bei ähnlichen Angeboten meist nach dem günstigsten Preis. Das heißt, dass die Refinanzierung einer Webseite in Gefahr geraten kann.
Um trotzdem in den schwarzen Zahlen zu bleiben, bietet es sich da als ganz einfacher Weg an, qualitativ hochwertige oder Special Interest-Inhalte, die es woanders nicht gibt, kostenpflichtig zu machen.

Paid Content? What’s that?
Paid Content are all digital goods on the internet, like news or blog articles, music or videos which the user can see, listen to or download only after paying a certain amount of money. Website templates are part of this, too, actually pretty much anything that’s produced digitally and without a special customer order for downloading.
Why offer paid content?
The choice of websites has become huge, not only for users, but also for advertisers. Click-through rates per website are dwindling, so advertisers decide their ad placements by price when pages are similar. This means that refunding a website may be jeopardized.
To remain in the black nevertheless, it makes sense to put price tags on high quality or special-interest content you don’t get anywhere else.

Ist der Imagefilm der Firma von einem Apple-Nutzer erstellt worden, gilt für diesen häufig das Quicktime-Format *.mov als einzig wahres Dateiformat für Bewegtbild. Und tatsächlich gehört Quicktime mit zu den kompatibelsten Videodateien.
Allerdings gibt es da noch mehr Standards, die sich entwickelt haben. Unter anderem ist da mpeg2, welches genau dafür entwickelt wurde, um von den meisten Playern abgespielt werden zu können.
*.avi ist ein sehr altes Dateiformat, das schon vor 20 Jahren von Microsoft entwickelt wurde. Aufgrund seines Alters ist es auch plattformübergreifend weit verbreitet.
Allerdings gibt es bei *.avi- und auch *.mpeg-Dateien hin und wieder Kompatibilitätsprobleme wegen auf dem System fehlender Codecs. Das sorgt für Frust beim Nutzer. Vermeiden kann man dies, indem man weit verbreitete Codecs statt unbekannten Arten bei der Encodierung verwendet, wie z.B. ffmpeg oder x264.
Für Ihren Nutzer: der oben erwähnte VLC-Player enthält bereits eine ganze Reihe Codecs, auch kann jeder Windows-Nutzer sich z.B. das K-Lite Codec Pack installieren, das den Rechner um fast alle gängigen Codecs aufrüstet.

*.avi is a very old file format which was developed by Microsoft about 20 years ago. Because of its age, it‘s also quite common across platforms.
Still, there are compatibility problems every now and again with both *.avi and *.mpeg files when the computer lacks the right codecs. This causes frustration with the user. Avoid this by using common codecs instead of unknown types when encoding, like ffmpeg or x264.
For your users: the VLC-Player mentioned above contains a long list of codecs already, and every Windows user can download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack, which will upgrade the computer with almost all common codecs.

Ausgangstext - Deutsch Es ist das zehnjährige Jubiläum der HRSC-Kamera. Diese Kamera hat als erstes Aufnahmegerät den Mars auf hochauflösenden Bildern kartografiert. Das hat die Marsforschung sehr stark gefördert. XXX hatte die Ehre das Jubiläum mit einer passenden Webseite zu verewigen. Dafür sind wir die Extrameile gegangen und haben eine informative, sowie unterhaltsame Internetseite erschaffen.
Die HRSC-Kamera ist vor zehn Jahren mit der europäischen Mission “Mars-Express” zum Roten Planeten befördert worden. Seitdem erledigt sie zielgerichtet ihren Job den Mars zu kartografieren. Die Kamera benutzt hierfür ein spezielles Prinzip, bei dem die Sonde die vorüberziehende Landschaft scannt.
XXX produzierte acht Experten-Interviews speziell für die Webseite. Die Videos veranschaulichen verschiedene Aspekte des Mars. Die Mars-Experten des DLR stehen Rede und Antwort zu den spannenden Themen der Marsforschung. Diese spannen sich von der Klimageschichte über die Landestellen auf dem Mars bis hin zu den Monden des Roten Planeten.
Unsere filmischen Leistungen gehen noch weiter. Für den Trailer des DLR haben wir das Motiondesign angefertigt. Dieser ist ebenfalls auf der Webseite zu finden.
Natürlich ist der Mars das Hauptaugenmerk der Seite. Ein Rückblick auf vergangene Marsmissionen wird in chicen Kacheln von 1960 bis heute dargestellt.
Eine Slideshow präsentiert stilvoll und anschaulich verschiedene Gebiete des Roten Planeten. Der dazugehörige Marsglobus hilft bei der Orientierung.
Um die Webseite abzurunden gibt es Links, die auf verwandte Themen weiterführen. Darunter sind die Webseiten des DLR über die Mission “Mars Express” oder die planetare Bildbibliothek der NASA/ DLR.
XXX übernahm bei diesem Webprojekt alle Verantwortungsbereiche. Wir haben die Seite selbst konzipiert, designt und umgesetzt. Es wurde auf neue Webstandards geachtet. Die Webseite ist selbstverständlich responsiv und macht auf jedem mobilen Gerät eine gute Figur.
Die Internetseite wird als Ausgangspunkt für weitere Mars-bezogene Webseiten dienen. Für die Zukunft sind weitere Projekte geplant, die wir vorerst unter Verschluss halten. Wir halten euch natürlich auf dem Laufenden. Jetzt aber erstmal viel Spaß mit der neuen DLR-Webseite!
Übersetzung - Englisch It’s the ten-year anniversary of the HRSC camera. This camera was the first recording device which mapped Mars in high resolution images. This very much benefited Mars research. XXX had the honour of immortalizing this anniversary with a matching website. For this, we went the extra mile and created an informative and entertaining internet page.
The HRSC camera was transported to the red planet ten years ago with the European mission “Mars Express”. Since then, it has purposefully done its job in mapping Mars. To do this, the camera uses a specific concept in which the orbiter scans the passing landscape.
XXX produced eight expert interviews exclusively for this website. The videos visualize different aspects of Mars. The Mars experts of DLR answer all questions about the exciting subjects of Mars research. These range from climate history to landing spots on Mars to the moons of the red planet.
Our video achievements go even further. For the DLR trailer, we created the motion design, which can also be found on the website.
Of course, Mars is the main focus of the site. A review of past Mars missions is shown in fancy tiles from 1960 to today.
A slideshow presents different areas of the red planet with stylish and vivid images. The accompanying Mars globe helps with orientation.
To round off the website, there are links leading to related subjects. Among them, there are the websites of the DLR about the mission “Mars Express” or the planet image library of NASA/DLR.
XXX carried full responsibility of all areas of this web project. We drafted, designed and created the entire page and paid attention to newest web standards. The website is of course responsive and looks great on any mobile device.
The website will be the starting point for further Mars related websites. In the future, more projects are planned, which we’ll be keeping under tight wraps for now. But we’ll keep you up to date! For now, enjoy the new DLR website!
