"A noble profession: The human face of translation"

The home of the Nobel Prize, Stockholm is a city that has always been at the cutting-edge of design and technology and it has earned a reputation for its contributions to the humanities, sciences and technology. Translation is a “noble” profession in its own right, facilitating communication and intercultural collaboration across a spectrum of domains, from the arts to the most high-tech developments.

As in many other industries, the translation industry has been completely transformed by technology – from CAT tools, to email, to machine translation – long-gone are the days of fax communication between agency and vendor. However, with the development and integration of technology and automated translation, the human side of translation has become overshadowed by the technological means.

This year's conference will be a forum and exchange of ideas regarding the “human” side of our noble profession and how to best incorporate and adapt technologies to individual goals and practices. The 2016 event will be a time to match a face to an email address and exchange ideas with colleagues, develop new skills and bring a human touch to the industry.
