Machine Translation Systems

CafeTran Espresso

CafeTran Espresso supports the following machine translation systems

Free MT systems via their websites:

- Bing Translator
- DeepL
- Google Translate
- Youdao MT

Paid MT systems through their API:

- MyMemory
- Microsoft Translator
- Google Translate
- DeepL - You can set the tone (automatically/formal/informal)
- Amazon Translate
- Yandex Translate

CafeTran Espresso can query all MT systems at the same time and display their suggestions clearly. You can then paste the entire suggestions into the target segment editor (keyboard shortcuts are available), or drag and drop parts of the suggestions (even from different MT systems) to paste them into the target segment editor.

CafeTran Espresso can use your glossary with high priority to inject your preferred target terms into the MTs' suggestions.

OmegaT

OmegaT supports these machine translation systems out of the box:

- Belazar
- MyMemory
- Google Translate
- Yandex
- DeepL - You cannot set the tone (automatically/formal/informal)
- Apertium

I have tested OmegaT's integration of DeepL and noticed that it supports automatic tag placement, something that is missing with CafeTran Espresso.

OmegaT can query several MTs at the same time. The results of Google Translate were quite disappointing:

In this particular case, it would have been easier to just manually translate/automatically insert recognized terms.

You can only accept complete suggestions of these systems. If you want to insert only parts of them, you have to select, copy and paste those parts into the target segment.

Artificial Intelligence Systems

CafeTran Espresso

CafeTran Espresso supports the following AI systems out of the box:

- Google Gemini
- Anthropic Claude
- OpenAI ChatGPT

Several useful prompts are built in. You can modify them and add your own prompts. Source segments can be sent to the AI systems automatically or manually. You can accept the whole (translation) suggestion with a shortcut or use only parts of it by dragging. CafeTran Espresso can speak the responses from the AI systems.

Can OmegaT use your glossary with high priority to inject your preferred target terms into the MTs' suggestions.

OmegaT

Does OmegaT support any AI systems out of the box?
