The one I've been using was also the same brand, but with a lot less capacity. It was getting pretty full and cluttered by some YouTube clips and CNN news clips that I found interesting. The clips are probably really not worth saving, especially in the long run; and I'll most likely never have a reason to revisit any of them again. But hey, storage is cheap these days, and the hard drives are getting more and more compact. Besides, a lot of YouTube clips get deleted by the site for one reason or another, which gives me an incentive to download and back them up, just in case I want to view any of them again.
The poor customer reviews didn't sway my decision. Most of them were complaining about the backup facility that would pop up all the time anyway. What I did was to run the .exe files immediately after powerup the first time. And I had no problems with the backup facility getting in the way.
This 1 Terabyte My Passport Essential SE seems to have gotten some better reviews. At least it got a better average rating(by 11 customers). There's also a 500GB version that has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, similar to the 1TB version.
