Dear Henry and staff,
It would be very good to avoid or at least reduce the number of same or similar answers to a question by allowing answerer to see all other answers possibly given in the meantime, just before pressing the SUBMIT ANSWER button. I am sure that you can devise some simple means to achieve it.
Congratulations again for the recent great improvements !

I don't know what are Henry and Jason going to answer, nor what can they do, but there are some means to avoid duplicate answers (from different answerers).
When I'm going to answer I have my KudoZ page opened and I search in other pages. If my research lasts too much, I open an other window with the same KudoZ and refresh it before writing or while I write my answer in the first one.
I used to do this when the "Hide" option didn't exist.

Since we can hide eventually repeated answers, I have a look, if we're 2 or 3 with the same answer provided and I think that mine doesn't bring any better information, I hide it.

you are right, and I also check the page again and hide my duplicate answers, but many colleagues do not.

I took off my last sentence in my previous response, it was...
...if everybody did the same (hide his answer when it doesn't bring more information or references) the relationships in KudoZ would be better. But I didn't want to sound like a lecturer.
But I've also seen people criticized because they hide their answers, there's always somebody unhappy

I agree. But, what about the ones who post a very similar answer 24 hours after a sufficiently comprehensive one has been posted? Does that help good relationships to be formed? I'm afraid there is much to be said about group behaviour, and the proz community is not an exception.

This won't be possible because the pages are not in Java, and HTML is always a bit late.
But it would be possible to check for duplicate entries after the SUBMIT ANSWER button has been pressed and before the answer is stored. In case a duplicate is found, the answerer could be asked whether he still wants to post this answer.
