I don't want to upset you with my questions, but I didn't quite understand the sense of some rules in Proz.
Please, could you explain them to me?
1. I understand KudoZ points and generally KudoZ activity is a part of your image for the jobposters.
The KudoZ points are still not used to buy jobs? Am I right?
2. One receives BrownieZ points by "agree" at KudoZ questions and other activities and they are used to buy jobs.
I don't understand the mechanism of KudoZ.

a. Is it realy useful to agree to answers and do you always receive Brownies in this way?
And if you agree and the answer was still not choosen?
b. How long do questions remain open and who does close them? Do the asker close his question? I see a lot of questions which are open for days, weeks a.s.o.
Does the asker then not come back and get his anwers and so close the question?
I also understood that something is done automatically, but I am not sure what.
3. Why do we have to pay in order to receive a job?
The payment is to be done when bidding, or after receiving the job? In the first case it would be not fair.
I have just read there are changes to be done to KudoZ rules and I only want to say that there must be a sort of a competition.
One could test his own knowledge and also see his position among the others competitors for a translation job.
Personally I also answer questions because I love it, I like to work my brain and I also learn a lot this way..
That must not lead to hard and unfair competition, a fight for points, just to receive jobs.
Points must be (don't take them out) in order to verify yourself, to validate your answer.
I would rather suggest to give up the BrownieZ points for "agree". It doesn't make any sense.
Either you have an opinion about the question asked and you write it down, or not.Only in case an answer is wrong you have to say your opinion and make the correction, or you may complete the answer with one more alternative if necessary.
And please, don't the most of us here have enough competition and difficulties to obtain a job, do we also have to pay for it? Think about: there so much more translators than jobs especially for some languages.
Let us have the same chance!Just show our capacity for that job.
(As a matter of fact I don't even understand the idea with the premium members and why they should exist)

before making postings. You should find there many answers to your questions. I think you have also made other postings about questions that showed that you didn't read the FAQ.
As for Platinum memberships, well, you can view them as sort of an appreciation of the members for the services provided by ProZ to its members. At least this is how I see it.

Let me answer the jobs-related part of your question - starting in reverse order, actually:

I take it you're referring to Platinum members - Premium membership was discontinued some time ago.

Exactly. Have you thought about what it takes to develop this site, and run it? Henry Dotterer, founder and owner of ProZ.com, explains it in an open letter in the Platinum upgrade section.
As far as "paying for jobs" is concerned, there's a nominal fee for job quotes, which you don't have to pay if you do something for the site in return, earning BrowniZ (peer grading is one way to earn them, but not the only way). Remember that ProZ.com does not charge any commission or intermediary fee for jobs placed - also, once you have established contact with a customer, you don't have to go through the site.
I hope this clarifies a few things.

I think you will be better able to comment on the site once you have had some experience with how (well) the KudoZ system works.
The agree responses are very valuable because it is sometimes difficult for the asker to determine what is the right answer. Seeing that several people agree, especially if you know their level of expertise, is definitely helpful. Furthermore, sometimes people agree but suggest a small change or addition that may improve the original answer. Of course, onc...
