but what's the point of having that sentence there anyway?
I can see a tiny-weeny point in knowing if someone is working, expert, specialises etc. in the subject - although I agree with those who say that the distictions between areas are are blurred and there is much more to it than meets the eye. The subject of expertise, working field, specialisation could be discussed endlessly. But why add a meaningless written "permission" to answer?

Hi juvera -

I see it as attempt to give askers some options regarding whom they want to answer their questions. We've got a lot of cowboys here who'll answer anything that moves, whether or not they are proficient in the languages involved or the subject matter. I think this solution is still imperfect but a step in the right direction.

It gets abused by askers who haven't spent a little time becoming familiar with KudoZ before asking questions. They now have so many options that many tend to just check off boxes here and there without knowing what they're doing.

That's exactly what I thought. In other words, it is not making any difference. Maybe a poll would be in order to discover: has anybody been deterred by this sentence to attempt an answer to a KudoZ question? If only a few, then it is not serving any purpose.
I don't feel very strongly about it, but - as you said - there are so many options and boxes, that people don't pay much attention to them any more, so it may be worth reconsidering its' fate.

I do really think that there could be a bug in the system Jun 3, 2006

And not only pertaining to the Kudoz part. A bid gets rejected once and I get multiple mails, rejected. or a bid has been accepted I get only two notifications but the outsourcer never reacts. What to assume now. Best Brandis
