Hi all,
I really love ProZ and all the member features. I spend far too much time here!
I just noticed the Kudoz section smattered with Google Adsense Advertising, top and bottom, and was quite taken aback. I can't see the advertising now, so I'm sure it was just an experiment, but have fears that it may be earmarked for inclusion at any time.

OK, why do I give a damn how ProZ makes its income? Well, because I'm a paying member and I think that advertising should be used discreetly and shouldn't be a nuisance to those that pay for a fast, reliable, intuitive and excellent service.
Any comments?

Thank you for your input. We agree that paying members should not see Google ads. The program we run for ads on the forum and kudoz sections are set to only display to non-logged in visitors. It is quite possiblee that you viewed that page while you were logged out - and then when you logged in the ads disapeared as they should have.

I hope this answers your questions - and assuages your concerns. We definitely do not intend to display Google type ads to our platinum members.

I realise now in hindsight that I'd opened up another web browser to see how the site functions and hadn't logged in. Once I had logged in those nasty adverts went away.

that members don't get to see all those ads. But I don't like the Babylon one blinking on the left side. When an ad stays for a few seconds (just enough to read it if we want to), that's all right. But that blink-blink is annoying to me.

"Blinking" used to be used as a mild swear word in UK English. It is now obsolete, but you can take it in that sense too if you like.

I find flashing banner ads immensely irritating. For that reason I did an internet search and found excellent programmes which eliminate the vast majority of "flashing boxes". I now work and surf on the internet in blissful peace!!!
Search for the following term: "disable banner ads" or "AdsOff" software.

Since when is the word "blinking" obsolete, Jack? I grew up with it being a very common word. What makes you say it is obsolete? Just curious.

And, by the way, those blinking ads do annoy me, too. I cannot look at the page at all then, and have to switch to another page - any page at all.
