Question about jobs marked as 'urgent'

Dear colleagues,
Some jobs posted in Proz are marked as URGENT, yet they are not so. When I am browsing jobs, I find that there are a number of jobs posted a few months ago and still highlighted in red. Similarly, there are other job postings with very restrictive DEADLINE, but still waiting for more quotes!
Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

Job posters are free to determine the content and wording of their jobs (within certain boundaries, of course). That said, Jobs moderators are removing jobs with insufficient description (IOW just putting 'URGENT!!!' as a job description isn't good enough...). And yes, some jobs are well worded - others are almost insulting in view of the apparent lack of dedication.

At the end of the day, it's the job poster's duty to make sure the job is communicated properly - and not all of them take that duty seriously.

Regarding old jobs, that's indeed a problem - that's why moderators have proposed to implement an automatic closing function that will shut down all pending jobs after a specified period of time. I believe this will be implemented at some point, but I'm in no position to give you a deadline.
