I don't undersand why I can't access to some jobs labelled "proZ members only", given that I joined ProZ last week.
Do I have to be full member to quote for these jobs ?

'Member' vs. 'user'

Hi Marie,
Do I have to be full member to quote for these jobs ?
You need a paid membership - to see the distinction between 'member' and 'user', please check the site glossary:
ProZ.com member - A site user with a current paid membership subscription
HTH - best regards,
Ralf

You gotta pay to play

That's exactly right, the site wants your hundred bucks first - and who could blame them!? What I could never figure out though is what the benefit is to the poster. This way, they severely limit their pool of qualified candidates, since some of the best qualified freelancers are users.

Outsourcer's view

While I agree that paid membership is not any guarantee of quality as such, all other factors equal, I prefer to give a job to the translator who has chosen to invest in his profession- this sure ads some more reliability/seriousness to the profile, especially if I have no previous experience with these service providers (and paid ProZ membership IS an investment, besides, according to many testimonies, a very profitable one).

Being a paid member gives you an advantage

I was a basic user for a year or two, and then I decided to become a paying member. One thing I love about it is that paid members get job notices before basic users of the site. And that is added value I'm happy to pay for.
